i wold have died if it ended with Ushio death. Those that didnt like the ending just dont understand it. it was simply genius. i can now breath a happy sigh of relief. I am no longer morbidly depressed. :)
A little bit more on what I got out of the series.
It seems that for what ever reason, Tomoya needed to understand the importance of family and the powers at work in the story lead him in his dreams to that dreamland.
I think in the real life he was experiencing where his life was headed if he never understood the importance of those around him. Even to ushio's death, he still wished that if they couldn't live that they never met in the first place.
But them meeting ended up saving the family spirit in that town, and so the lesson he still needed to learn was that it isn't the destination that matters but the journey that is most important.
In his dream world, where there is no destination and even time stands still, he was able to meet with the spirit of his daughter, and finally in the end understand this important lesson and in doing so was able to redeem himself and his life in that town, and as a gift was able to live a life with Nagisa and Ushio surviving their illness.
(omg... I got the ost of Clannad, and the emotional song from when Ushio cried for the first time in her daddy's arms started playing while I typed this. T^T)
it's like they where able to reach each other across space and time. And somehow it allowed nagisa and her daughter to have a stronger will to live.
It's a bit on the 'just except the outcome and go with it' plot when they account this strange supernatural incident.
i guess the experienced consciousness of tomoya and nagisa managed to laps over back to that time they first met, except they now knew they're relationship from that alternate world.
I think I get it now. It works. I would hate to have it end with a 'life goes on' ending with both nagisa and ushio dead. They are too intertwined into the story for them to not live on.
Anyways it kinda ruins it when i re-watch the series cause now all know that all that's going on is a world where it's not really going to be in the end (made sense in my head) But it's still a great show, so I want to remember the funny and emotional parts all over again.
huh.. Damn... that was the best anime i had ever watched... and it has the best ending of all animes that i watched... My opinion about the last episode: I think that they showed us the reality and then when they link both stories they showed us a better end, a happy end, so they basicly gave us two endings first the sad one and then the happy one... I liked both , I even cry in these episodes without nagisa when tomoya remembered her... it satisfied me to see also the happy ending...
I really would like to see more of clannad, but with other couples like Tomoya and Kyuo or Ryuo or Tomoyo or kytomi I could watch endless to these episodes...
this is was and always be one of the best Anime i have ever seen and i hate the fact that Nagisa died but all and all it was great hope the makers make another like this one
hahahaa the author already knew the whole story before they even started clannad watch megumeru opening you will see the ending of episode 22 ushio and many more about after story ^^
This was an awesome ending!!! As soon as Nagisa started moving in the home scene where she gave birth to Ushio so that we then new she was alive I literally shouted out YAY! (I'm not joking I actually did) This was a great ending though I would have prefered the extra episode to be on Nagisa Ushio and Tomoya living together instead of Nagisa's past...Oh well guess you can't have everything
the ending was very complex but i think i get it. basically the little robot was okazaki and the girl was ushio. the two worlds were seperate but once the world disappeared(she died) the two worlds collided. the last 5 episodes took place to show what happened to the robot and the girl. the ushio that lived 5 years without her father stopped existing so the 5 years that we've been watching stopped existing(never happened). i think what they did was to finally link the two stories that they started since the first series. it also gave an opportunity to see the relationships of the other characters like okazaki's father. the overall meaning of the story in my opinion was probably to live on hapilly and dont regret the memories that you make no matter how awful it may be because you always have the good memories. theres probably more meanings but i dont want to make this any longer than it is. dont think of the last 5 eps as a way to prolong an ending because it allowed us to envision ushio which would have been harder if the 5 eps were all happy ones. give me some feedback if your interested still since i can go on and on.
SPOILER if u havent watched this episode yet. r r r So they're basically saying "Oh the last 5 years didn't actually happen, forget all that happened in these last 5 episodes or so" Thats the kind of stuff that pisses me off. I would like it if he somehow had memories of that stuff and learned from it (like in the movie Click), but when they just have a "this never happened noone remembers it but the viewers watching" it just drives me crazy because it might as well have been made up by any random fan that wanted to continue the story after it ended.
someone can tell me what happen.... that was a good episode i like it but a litle ramdon. i hope the series continued in another story of USHIO! I really hope that
This was a good wrap up, but I agree a little with Baltzeguard. They basically pulled a giant "Dallas" with the just kidding thing. I'm glad that they didn't end up dying and all though. What a relief. This show was full of punches, then apologies followed by a kick with a steel boot. It's tough to end a series though, there are a lot of stuff you gotta do. Many times have I seen a good series with a shit ending. They pulled this one off well, really well, but it still is kinda cliche.
......wow, talk about pulling you along, and in the end it ended up being happy. Well im glad it was happy, it would have been f-ed up being the way it was going. All around a GREAT series to watch. ^_^
dude, its like backtracking time and changing history then suddenly someone from another dimension teleports beside the tree and transforms into ushio the being find by fuuko. just to put and wrapp up a ggod ending. anyways better than sad.YAY(i really did'nt understand what happened back there)
ohhhhh why did it end ?!?!?! i loved it the best realistic anime i have ever seen but is has an extra episode yeahhhhh !!! this was one of the best episodes
haahaa i knew it thank god that wasnt disapointing hehee but the preview was weird :P but there should be after extra ep one more ep!!! i hope its true it was on anime news network.
