The story revolves around Mahiro Fuwa, a teenager whose family was mysteriously murdered one year before and his friend Yoshino Takigawa. Mahiro is contacted by Hakase Kusaribe, the leader of the Kusaribe clan who was left stranded on an unknown desert island by her followers, and agrees to help Hakase in exchange of her help to find out the culprit for the death of his family. Upon learining of his friend's intentions, Yoshino joins him on his quest to stand against the Kusaribe clan who intends to awake the "Tree of Zetsuen" whose power can bring ruin to the entire world.
Several dialogues and plot elements in Zetsuen no Tempest pay homage to the works of William Shakespeare.
I am not really sure to begin as this anime is so amazing that it is overwhelming. As it says in the title of my review, this is genuinely one of the best anime's I have ever seen.
It makes me mad that this anime was barely given any recognition. First off the plot. The story starts off seemingly simple. (You have your protagonist, some bad stuff happens. You have your "antagonist" more stuff happens) However it gets far more interesting. It gets a little complex at times. Not to the point where it is too difficult to follow, complex as in you want to make sure you are keeping up with the subtitles. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS A THING as everything is important and it is absolutely written so well. The last time I was impressed to this degree with story writing was the first time i watched Death Note. Furthermore what i love about the story's plot is that you can tell that the writers really did their research as they incorporate many complex themes from other works of literature such as Shakespeare. It draws you in to the point where you are deeply emotionally invested in the anime. Unlike many animes, it has everything in the story any anime fan could want; action, adventure, magic, romance, comedy, etc. The last thing that I enjoyed about the plot was that the ending was really good. It is rare to find animes that actually end well.
Next the characters. The cast is very diverse, filled with a wide range of refreshing, and engaging characters. The animation is beautiful!!
Now for my favorite thing about this anime; the music. The music was the first thing i noticed about this anime and it is magnificent. I felt like I was listening to a marvelous orchestra. Many of the tracks I consider masterpieces. The amazing soundtrack really complements the story. As far as the music, It makes sense, the composer of the soundtrack is Michiru Oshima who did the soundtrack for the original Full Metal Alchemist and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Go on youtube and take a listen to the OST and I guarantee you will be impressed. I am actually listening to it right now.
Overall I loved this anime. It is one of my TOP 5 anime, and I have seen tons. If i could give this a 6th star i would. Please do yourself a favor and watch it.
this is an anime i never expected to be good....but the plot was pretty well made and the ending is fantastic.....also....this anime is not categorized in romance maybe cuz it only has 30% and the majority ends in fantasy and mystery solving....this anime NEVER show a kiss scene though it has ROMANCE......-.-lll its kinda dull for me.....so don be disappointed when yer watch it..... the early episodes are kinda lame but in the later series u might find it interesting how the princess falls for yoshino...
basically,.....i'm glad that i found this amazing anime...those who like happy endings.....u might wanna give this a try...><
Ok, I must admit that even though this is a good anime but at some point you might get lost in keeping up with the story....but my dear anime watchers, BEWARE this anime can frigging scare the sh*t out of you....complex and complicated emotions, suspense and tragedy could affect your psychology about love and women in more ways then one...Viewers are advised caution while watching it...great for peole who dont give a damn.
