The game and anime follow Kon Hokaze, a boy who embarks on a journey from our world to an alternate world known as Mira, which is full a mysterious energy known as Alma. After saving Princess Ecarlate from attackers, he soon finds himself in the middle of a struggle around Alma.
The story follows a boy named Kon Hokaze a teenager who spends his days in his room playing video games. One day while playing a mysterious girl comes along and asks him for a favor which he anxiously agrees to. Before he knows it while sitting in his chair he falls through a portal bringing him to another world where he becomes revered as what's known to be a "Hyperion" a being who can use the sacred alma energy as a weapon. He becomes a knight for a princess who is on a journey to a kingdom to marry a prince for many reasons, with her knight Sanglain and cross dressing companion Mariandel both of which have sworn loyalty to the princess.
The story progresses as Kon tries to find his way back home while encountering another Hyperion along the way named Erec whom he constantly battles. The show plays out on many jokes and comedic scenes with weak battles occasionally showing off Kon's new Hyperion abilities. Constantly complaining about wanting to go back to his world Kon teams up with the princess and her party to head to the royal city in hopes of finding a way to return home.
The story may not interest some but it is good for laughs, a breather from many serious shows having been released during this season I give it a 3/5 for the old appeal yet comedic scenes.
I find myself dying inside. When people compare this to SAO. This anime basically feels like its been released in the wrong era. Everything from the music to the characters remind you of what an anime was like in the late 90s.
Although I'm not going to completely slay it. It does have some funny moments which are incredibly cheesy but I would be lying if I said I din't enjoy cheesy humour =)
I really like this anime. It is a combination of Accel World and Sword Art Online(SAO) in my opinion. It is really funny and it pokes fun at some of the major flaws some games have. This anime had me at the first episode, which is the only episode available at the moment.
In a nut shell, this anime is about a gamer who actually gets sucked in and trapped in a game (like SAO). Unlike SAO, this guy has no idea what's going on and is trying to get a good idea of what's going on from the people around (like Hariyuki from Accel World when he first gets introduced into the game). He is then thrust into an adventure where he has to --SPOILER-- protect a princess as she journeys to another city --SPOILER END--. In addition to that, he has to figure out exactly what happened to him. The first episode creates the foundation for the plot of the rest of the story.
This anime leaves with some questions in the beginning but it does not leave you with too many questions. Leaving the audience with too many questions is just on the story designer's part.
I forgot to mention this: THIS ANIME IS HILARIOUS! I counted at least three different times where I laughed in this anime. I think this kind of anime (gamer gets sucked into a game) is a good shift from the seriousness of similar anime like SAO and Accel World. I really recommend that you keep watching. It's a good anime based on the style of anime that it is.
