Dragon Ball Kai
Classic martial-arts shonen series Dragonball Z will be receiving an extensively remastered HD re-broadcast this April. The rebroadcast will include newly recorded dialog by the original seiyuu, new sound effects, new OP/ED sequences, and a brand new HD video transfer. (Sankaku Complex)
Toei Animation has confirmed that Dragon Ball Kai will be edited to more closely follow Akira Toriyama's original manga. The Dragon Ball Z anime series originally ran from April 1989 to January 1996 in Japan. However, since Toriyama was still serializing his manga at the same time in shorter weekly installments, the Dragon Ball Z anime expanded its story by inserting additional content. The new Dragon Ball Kai remastering will be an "Akira Toriyama original cut edition" that will quicken the story presentation and adhere more with the manga's story. Toei has said that they are planning on cutting the series down to around 100 episodes. (Anime News Network)

knock offs. first and foremost i support this anime. and secondly disregard the one who thinks naruto would not have been made. kishimoto sensie still would have made it because of all the other toriyama productions he love like dragon quest and other such things including Dr.slump and the true bs knockoff of dbz even though it was still enjoyable was dragonball GT and i in fact didn\\\'t like it that much because of the ridiculously unexciting battle scenes and poor plot sequences the only thing that i found interesting was pan was brought into the spotlight but she couldn\\\'t even turn into an damn super saiyen.
OMG shut up.Is it a tribute to one of the older animes before animes really took off in America? Yes. However, you are all forgetting. This was created at the same time of Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Gundam, and Ghost in the shell. If you even think about comparing DBZ to any of these, your fucking retarded. DBZ 2000-now is garbage. The only season that was good was when Goku was a kid, and things werent necessarily realistic, but people wouldnt blow up a fucking planet when they snapped they\\\'re fingers.... DBZ is now total garbage.
To all who think its a repeat.DBZ Kai is not a repeat or a condensed version of the original anime.
Kai is a remake which is supposed to stick very close to the original manga as well as cutting out a large amount of the bs the original had.
The whole purpose of Kai is to reshow the anime without the editing or additional filler which the original one had and if you do look closely, the original does have some filler.
This is just like FMA: Brotherhood its a remake which is very close to the manga.
